At HCDSB, we are committed to creating safe and inclusive work and learning environments where every member of our community feels welcomed, valued and respected. Promoting equity and inclusion at all levels of our system is an ongoing priority and implementing a Workforce Census aligns with our Equity and Inclusion Policy, as well as our Multi-Year Strategic Plan. This collection also aligns with Ontario’s Anti-Racism Act, 2017 and Equity Action Plan, PPM 165, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code.
The Workforce Census is designed to gather information from HCDSB staff to help us better understand the composition of our HCDSB workforce so we can identify strengths and barriers to equity and inclusion in employment and create plans and supports to address workplace equity.
2022 Workforce Census
On January 24, 2022, we launched our first Workforce Census. All HCDSB staff were invited to complete an online survey between January 24 – February 25, 2022. The survey was anonymous, voluntary and confidential.
There were two parts to the survey:
- identity-based demographic items that aligned with Anti-Racism Data Standards; and
- organizational demographic items that were adapted from other Ontario school board Workforce Census surveys.
Overall, 2462 HCDSB staff (out of 5407) participated in the workforce census.
