Equity and Inclusion in Employment

The 嫩芽视频 is committed to supporting the development of a strong and equitable workforce, that will foster the success and well-being of our students, staff, and wider-Catholic school communities.  We strive to uphold the values of equity and inclusion in the recruitment and hiring of qualified staff who reflect the diversity of our region.  Although qualifications and experience will be determining factors in the hiring process, the HCDSB shall promote the hiring of qualified candidates from under-represented groups. To that end, we actively encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity including, but not limited to: First Nations, M茅tis and Inuit peoples, and all other Indigenous peoples; members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, colour or place of origin; persons with visible and/or invisible (physical and/or mental) disabilities.

The HCDSB is further committed to intentionally understanding the composition of our workforce following from recruitment and selection processes and accordingly encourages all applicants to voluntarily respond to the self-identification questions during the application process via ApplyToEducation. We will review this data collection during hiring processes and in aggregate to inform our goals and values consistent with Catholic Social Teaching, reaffirming the dignity of every individual, and the Ontario Human Rights Code. It will also assist in measuring our progress from an evidenced-based approach, keeping the HCDSB accountable for building, and sustaining an equitable and inclusive employment model that represents our student body and wider-Catholic communities.

NOTE: This data collection initiative is an important part of our Equity and Inclusion Policy and Strategic Plan, and our process aligns with provincial legislation and policy, including with Ontario鈥檚 Anti-Racism Act, 2017 and Equity Action Plan, PPM 165, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and complies with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56. Notwithstanding this, please note hiring practices must also adhere to requirements set out in applicable Regulations, including but not limited to, Regulation 298, 鈥淥peration of Schools 鈥 General鈥), current provisions of the relevant OECTA collective agreement, and policies of the 嫩芽视频, as applicable.

Please note that the voluntary self-identification inquiry is separate from the submission of the Equity and Inclusion Response. The submission of an Equity and Inclusion Response is a mandatory component of a candidate鈥檚 application.
