The start of school is an exciting milestone for every child, and every family. Our HCDSB schools offer a full-day, 2-year Kindergarten program, designed to engage curious early learners through various types of play that help children learn how to reason and problem-solve as they interact with one another.
Document Checklist
As a parent/guardian, you can upload the required documents listed below through the online registration portal PowerSchool, or if you prefer, bring in these documents to the school by appointment.
Child’s Birth Certificate
Year 1聽Kindergarten 鈥� September 2026 Start Date: Children must be 4 years of age on or before December 31, 2026.
Year 2聽Kindergarten 鈥� September 2026 Start Date: Children must be 5 years of age on or before December 31, 2026.鈥�
Baptismal Certificate
If your聽child has no Roman/Eastern Rite Catholic baptismal 鈥媍ertificate,聽your聽child may be admitted if one parent can provide a Roman/Eastern Rite Catholic baptismal 鈥媍ertificate. Please refer to the 鈥�Board鈥檚 Operating Policy I-22聽for more information.
Proof of Address
This must be official document(s) that show your name and address, verifying that you reside at the address. Common examples include:
- Utility bills
- Government-issued statements
- Property tax bills
- Current agreement of purchase and sale
The validity of these documents may depend on their date with more recent documents being preferred to ensure accuracy.
NOTE: For families new to the school, in-person proof of parent/guardian identification is mandatory. Please see below for full details.
Kindergarten Online Registration
If you have never used the online registration portal, PowerSchool, you will need to create an account first. Click the 鈥淐reate Account鈥� button and follow the steps. Once you have created your account, you will be able to login with your email and password.
NOTE: Children currently registered in the Year 1 Kindergarten program at an HCDSB school are not required to register for Year 2. Placement in Year 2 will be processed by the school, unless otherwise stated.

Share Required Documents In-Person
Parents/guardians with older children already attending the school are able to upload the required documents through the online registration portal PowerSchool, or if they prefer, may choose to bring in their required documents to the school.
For families new to the school, in-person proof of parent/guardian identification is mandatory.
While we welcome registrations at any time throughout the school year, the following dates have been set aside for parents to bring in their required documents to the school, and to provide proof of parent/guardian identification:
- Tuesday, January 20, 2026
- Wednesday, January 21, 2026
If neither of these two dates work for you, please contact your child鈥檚 school to make an appointment for another day to share your documentation and complete your registration in-person.
