June is designated as Pride Month in Canada, and throughout the month, our HCDSB schools will be raising awareness around Pride Month and nurturing our call to build safe and inclusive learning environments where every student and every member of the community is welcomedvalued, and respected

This June, and each day of every month, our Catholic schools are committed to nurturing safe, welcoming and inclusive schools where all students can feel a true sense of belonging.

What’s Happening Across Our Board

Rainbow Day 🌈 ~ Wednesday, June 1st

We will launch Pride Month at HCDSB with a system-wide Rainbow Day on Wednesday, June 1st&Բ;–&Բ;a day to love and celebrate one another, just as God loves and celebrates each one of us because we are all wonderfully made.

In keeping with the Board motion passed on January 18th, 2022, the Pride Flag will be raised at each school and the Catholic Education Centre. The flag will be flown throughout the month of June.

Note: The rules applied by the federal government and demonstrated at Government of Canada buildings and those of its agencies are not mandatory for schools and buildings that do not fall under federal jurisdiction.

While the federal guideline and preferred protocol is to have one flag per flagpole, in circumstances where a second flagpole is not available, individuals or organizations may choose to fly a secondary flag with the National Flag of Canada, so long as the National Flag has precedence, above the secondary flag.

Pride Awareness Day 🏳️‍🌈 ~ Tuesday, June 14th

On Tuesday, June 14th, we will hold a system-wide Pride Awareness Day – a day to reaffirm our commitment to honour the dignity and worth of each member of our community by nurturing safe, welcoming and inclusive schools.

There are a number of learning activities and events planned across our district throughout the month of June.
