At the Regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 16, the Board of Trustees received the resignation of Trustee Emma Murphy, Vice-Chair and the elected representative for Wards 2 and 3 in Milton. Her resignation is effective September 16, 2025.

“The decision did not come easy to me at all – there was a lot of prayerful consideration,” said Emma Murphy. “The decision is due to personal matters that require my full attention at this time. It has been an honour to support Catholic Education. I am very proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am confident that the Board will continue to guide students with faith and excellence at the forefront.”
Elected in 2022, Emma Murphy has been a dedicated advocate for Catholic education and a strong voice for families and students in Milton. Throughout her time as Trustee and Vice-Chair, she has worked closely with fellow trustees, staff, and community members to uphold the values of Catholic education and support the growth and well-being of students across HCDSB.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Emma Murphy for her service and commitment to Catholic education in our community,” said Marvin Duarte, Milton Trustee and Chair of the Board. “As a Trustee and Vice-Chair, Emma has contributed her time, energy, and dedication to supporting students and families in Milton, and her leadership has been greatly valued. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I wish her every blessing in all her future endeavours.”
Trustee Murphy’s resignation creates a vacancy in Milton Wards 2 and 3. At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the Board of Trustees approved that the vacant position for Milton Trustee, Wards 2 and 3 be filled by appointment through a comprehensive application and interview process.
