The ÄÛÑ¿ÊÓÆµ (HCDSB) has announced a vacancy for a Catholic School Board Trustee representing the Town of Milton in Wards 2 and 3, due to the resignation of Emma Murphy, Vice-Chair and Milton Trustee for Wards 2 and 3.
At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the Board of Trustees approved that the vacant position for Milton Trustee, Wards 2 and 3 be filled by appointment through a comprehensive application and interview process.
Calling All Qualified Candidates!
Qualified candidates are invited to submit a letter of interest and a current résumé to the Director of Education and Secretary of the Board, John Klein: director@hcdsb.org no later than 12:00 p.m. noon on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Short-listed candidates will be contacted and invited to make a five minute verbal presentation/statement to the Board of Trustees at a Special Board Meeting held on Thursday, October 9, 2025. A question period will follow, as part of the interview process, led by the Board of Trustees. A selection will be made through vote by secret ballot. The results of the vote will be announced in public and published in the minutes.
Candidate Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment as a Catholic School Board Trustee, a candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Roman Catholic;
- A registered Catholic school supporter;
- A resident of the jurisdiction of the school board (Burlington, Milton, Oakville, or Halton Hills);
- A Canadian citizen;
- At least 18 years of age.
Applicants must not be:
- Legally prohibited from voting;
- Disqualified by any legislation from holding school board office;
- An employee of any school board, or clerk, deputy clerk, treasurer or deputy treasurer of a municipality within the jurisdiction of a board;
- A judge of any court;
- A member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, a Senator or a member of the House of Commons;
- An inmate of a penal or correctional institution.
