At HCDSB, we are committed to nurturing safe, inclusive and welcoming schools and workplaces that support student achievement and well-being. This commitment is embedded throughout our new鈥Multi-Year Strategic Plan.听
As Catholics, we believe that we are all made in the image and likeness of God, who created us and loves us unconditionally 鈥 just as we are.鈥We value鈥痑ll鈥痵taff, students and families鈥痑nd we are committed to accompanying members of鈥痶he 2SLGBTQIA+ community as we honour the dignity and worth of every individual.鈥
Human Rights and Equity are guiding values that are consistent both with Catholic Social Teaching, as well as the Ontario Human Rights Code, which safeguards students and staff from discrimination based on the Code-protected grounds.鈥疶hese values are also articulated in our鈥Theological Theme,鈥What Does the Lord Ask of You?鈥(Micah 6:8).听
Our commitment to providing safe, welcoming and inclusive school communities is also embedded in our鈥Equity and Inclusive Education Policy.听
We are mindful that the events on September 20th鈥痬ay cause distress for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, which include students and staff across our school district. We want to ensure our HCDSB community is aware that supports are in place if they are needed.听
