In June 2023, ѿƵ (HCDSB) elementary schools celebrated the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics!
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. The “Flame of Hope,” which symbolizes courage and celebration of diversity, is carried by law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes throughout Canada and the United States. All funds raised through Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run events are directed into program support that directly affects all community Special Olympics Ontario (SOO) programs.
Halton’s torch run, which is organized by the Halton Regional Police Service, was scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Milton Community Park. Due to the poor air quality index, instead, the HCDSB community celebrated safely indoors with elementary schools organizing their own individual Torch Runs.
Through the commitment and dedication of our community, our schools were able to raise over $2190 towards the cause!
Thank you to our fantastic staff, students and families for championing acceptance and inclusion, and congratulations on your successful torch run events!
