In June,鈥疕CDSB鈥痵econdary鈥痵tudents鈥痯articipated鈥痠n鈥痶he inaugural HCDSB-wide鈥疢odel United Nations (UN)鈥痗onference,鈥疿MUN I,鈥痑t鈥�!
The conference brought鈥痵tudents together in a hybrid format to participate in a Model UN-style debate. Based on the Marvel Universe superhero theme, students were invited to represent different nations and characters from the鈥疢arvel Cinematic Universe鈥痑nd join in a lively debate on the fictional Registration Act,鈥疶he Sokovia Accords.
鈥疢odel UN provides the unique opportunity for students to develop public speaking, leadership, diplomatic, and research skills in a fast-paced environment while gaining insight into international relations and pertinent global issues.
鈥疭imulating the United Nations’ procedures, the conference鈥痝ave鈥痙elegates valuable insight into how one of the most influential intergovernmental organizations functions and the diplomatic process behind international cooperation.鈥�
鈥疶he conference was a huge success and鈥痚ncouraged鈥痵tudent participants鈥痶o engage in鈥痠nsightful debates鈥痑nd problem-solving.鈥疉fter concluding the debates, student delegates were presented with鈥痑鈥�榗risis鈥�, which they resolved in under fifteen minutes!
