To our HCDSB Community,

As the school year comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment to thank our HCDSB families, staff and parish communities for your continued support during another extraordinary year. It was certainly a challenging year, but also a very successful year.

We entered the 2021-2022 school year with a sense of optimism, and we worked in partnership to rebuildrestore and renew our school district together.  Fortunately, as the year progressed, we were able to lift some of the health and safety protocols that were in place in our schools. School sports and extracurriculars were reintroduced; cohorts were lifted, and school assemblies were once again allowed; school day field trips, and in-person graduations returned. It was not a full return to “normal” but certainly good progress in that direction.

Throughout it all, our students have worked hard at their studies, embracing the challenges as they supported one another – exemplary models of the standards we aspire to for our Catholic school graduates.

I want to thank our HCDSB families for the support and confidence you have shown by entrusting the education of your children to our school district during a time of great uncertainty. Parent engagement has always been a foundational pillar in our school communities, and it was encouraging to see so many parents and guardians back inside our schools again as we reopened our schools to volunteers, family socials and community events.

I continue to be inspired by the strength, resiliency, and dedication of the staff in our HCDSB schools and workplaces. Despite all the uncertainty that surrounded us as we lived and learned through a global pandemic, our staff rose to every challenge with flexibility and determination – doing whatever it took to keep meeting the needs of the students and families we serve.

As the school year draws to a close, I am feeling very grateful. It has been an absolute privilege to be a part of this school district for almost 30 years, and it was certainly an honour to serve as Director for the past four years. I take with me many fond memories and I wish all HCDSB students and families continued success in the years ahead.

I know that HCDSB will continue to thrive because of the vibrant partnership that exists between home, school and parish. Together, you will continue to meet the needs of all learners, while modeling Christ-like behaviour and nurturing safe, welcoming and inclusive schools.

Before we end the school year, I invite you to take a moment to watch the .

I will continue to keep our HCDSB community in my thoughts and prayers. Have a safe and restful summer.
