Our HCDSB schools are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments that support student achievement and well-being for all students.

Indigenous education at HCDSB is guided by the implementation of the , which supports our commitment through Truth and Reconciliation, and the United Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.

Through this policy framework, the common goal is that all students will have the knowledge and appreciation of contemporary and traditional First Nation, Métis and Inuit traditions, cultures and perspectives. This is consistent with Catholic Social Teachings that affirm the dignity of every human being.

About IEAC

The Indigenous Education Advisory Council (IEAC) is a joint council of the HCDSB and the Halton District School Board. The purpose of the IEAC is to provide advice on matters related to Indigenous education, initiatives, cultures and traditions; to assist in identifying community needs; and to offer input on the annual First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Board Action Plan.

By recognizing and promoting an awareness of the history and contemporary realities of this land, IEAC supports the success of all HCDSB learners, in particular First Nation, Métis and Inuit students.

We are currently inviting parents/guardians, students, and members of the Halton community to apply for membership on the IEAC!
