A Statement from the Chair
On January 18, 2022, the 嫩芽视频 (HCDSB) passed a motion to raise the Pride Flag outside all schools and the Catholic Education Centre for the month of June each year, beginning June 2022.
At HCDSB, we believe that we are all created in the image and likeness of God, and we teach our students to honour the individual rights and dignity of each person by treating one another with compassion and respect.
We will continue to nurture the call to love and to serve as people of faith, so that all students and staff experience a true sense of belonging.
We received a significant amount of feedback on the proposed motion to support our diverse community and fly the Pride flag during the month of June, and we want to thank all constituents and delegates for their input. The actions prescribed in the motion adopted by the Board of Trustees outline our next steps in supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ members in our HCDSB community.
Along with our commitment to flying the Pride flag for the month of June at each of our schools and the Catholic Education Centre, the adopted motion outlines several action steps in further supporting our diverse school communities. We will provide updates on all 2SLGBTQ+ training initiatives completed in 2022, raise community awareness, and foster partnerships with community organizations to ensure relevant resources are available in our schools.
