In June, 2025, students from spent the day walking the Moccasin Trail at Lions Valley Park, taking time to reflect on the land, its history, and the teachings it offers. Students and staff paused along the trail to observe the natural environment and considered the importance of caring for Mother Earth.
Inspired by this experience, students and staff collaborated to create a personalized land acknowledgement that captured their learning and reflections. Their artwork grew into a meaningful visual representation of stewardship, gratitude, and respect for the land.
During Treaties Recognition Week (November 2-8, 2025), the school unveiled this visual representation in a special ceremony; reaffirming the school community’s commitment to ongoing learning and reconciliation.
St. Vincent’s project highlights how experiential learning can deepen understanding and strengthen relationships with the land – and with one another.
