On Monday, June 17th, in Oakville marked a significant milestone as students, staff, families, and special guests gathered to celebrate the school’s 25th anniversary.

The celebration began in the afternoon with a commemorative Mass in the school gymnasium, presided over by the Very Reverend Monsignor Con O’Mahony, Vicar for Education and Pastor from St. Andrew Parish, and supported by Father Rijo from Mary Mother of God Parish. The Knights of Columbus Honour Guard also led the opening procession.

Members of the ÄÛÑ¿ÊÓƵ’s senior administrative team and Board of Trustees were joined by Ms. De Rose, Education Officer from the Ministry of Education, who presented a certificate to the school on behalf of the Honourable Paul Calandra, Minister of Education. Mr. Sullivan, on behalf of MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos, also presented a commemorative scroll to Principal Deery.

Oakville Trustee Helena Karabela presented a 25th Anniversary plaque to the Catholic School Council Chair, Mrs. Krueger, and Vice-Chair, Mrs. Adekitan.

The liturgy featured music from the St. Andrew school choir and heartfelt participation from students, who offered the Prayers of the Faithful in a variety of languages – including Portuguese, Mandarin, Malayalam, Arabic, Spanish, Vietnamese, Croatian, and Sinhalese – highlighting the rich cultural diversity of the school community.

Following the Mass, guests attended the reception, reflecting on the many memories and accomplishments shared over the past 25 years!

The presence of students, staff, families, Trustees, and community partners made the celebration especially meaningful and was a testament to the strong support for Catholic education within the St. Andrew community and across HCDSB.

Special thanks are extended to Monsignor Con, Father Rijo, and the Knights of Columbus for their spiritual leadership and participation in the celebration. Gratitude is also extended to the St. Andrew school choir for their beautiful musical contributions, and to the students whose multilingual prayers reflected the unity and diversity of the school.

Congratulations to the St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School community on 25 years of faith, learning, and excellence in Catholic education. May the next 25 years be filled with continued growth, joy, and success!

Quote

“For a quarter of a century this school has been a place where faith and learning have walked hand in hand. Where young minds have been opened to knowledge, and young hearts have been formed in the love of Jesus Christ…

Here, for over 25 years, children have grown into young people who understand that success is not measured only by grace or achievements, but by kindness, compassion, and courage.â€
