Grade 8 student Lucas Bi from set a new Canadian record in the 100-metre backstroke at the 2024 Alex Baumann Invitational on November 16th! This milestone adds to his remarkable achievements, which include breaking four provincial records this year, one of which had stood for more than two decades.
Lucas began competitive swimming at age 10 and has quickly risen as a standout athlete with the New Stars Swimming Club. His dedication and support from family, teammates, and the Oakville community have been key to his success.
With aspirations for future competitions and a goal of representing Canada on the world stage, Lucas’s journey serves as an inspiration to his peers and a source of pride for the Oakville, HCDSB and St. Andrew school community.
