At the Regular Board Meeting held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the HCDSB Board of Trustees conducted its annual election for the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board.  

Marvin Duarte, Milton Trustee for Wards 1 and 4, was acclaimed as Chair of the Board, and Emma Murphy, Milton Trustee for Wards 2 and 3 was elected as Vice-Chair of the Board.  

Both will serve a one-year term, ending in November 2025.

  • Trustees are elected every four years during the municipal election. The last municipal election took place on October 24, 2022.  
  • The HCDSB is allocated a maximum of nine (9) school board Trustees.  
  • HCDSB Trustees represent designated sections (wards) across each of the municipalities in the region of Halton – Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.  
  • Trustees meet on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of each month to discuss matters related to student achievement; serving as ambassadors to our school communities and Catholic education; and accountable for the decisions made by the Board.
