Pooria Ahmadi from has been named one of the 100 recipients of the 2024 Schulich Leader Scholarship! This prestigious award will provide Pooria with $100,000 for his post-secondary education, marking a significant milestone in his academic journey.
Throughout his time at Holy Trinity, Pooria has demonstrated academic excellence and leadership skills. His selection from a pool of 1,500 nominees, drawn from over 300,000 candidates nationwide, is a testament to his hard work and dedication. This fall, he will join Queen’s University to pursue a major in computing with a focus on Artificial Intelligence.
At Holy Trinity, Pooria’s leadership and innovative spirit have been evident. He played a crucial role as the software lead for Team 3161 Tronic Titans Robotics Team and contributed significantly to the school’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Leadership Program. His development of an attendance app for both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Robotics Team further showcased his initiative and technical skills.
Pooria credits much of his success to the support he received from his guidance counsellor and S.H.I.E.L.D. lead, Ryan Latimer, his English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers, Zrinjka Reeves and Lindsay Andrews, his Robotics Lead, Roger Balech, and his family. This network of support has been instrumental in his achievements and his vision for the future. Looking ahead, he aspires to become an entrepreneur in the tech field. He also hopes to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for a Master’s degree, aiming to leverage the remaining scholarship funds for his future educational pursuits. He hopes to give back by volunteering at future robotics competitions, a place where he found much inspiration and support.
