On February 21, 2024, the election was held for the new Student Trustees representing the students at the 嫩芽视频 (HCDSB) for the school year 2024-2025.
Candidates from all HCDSB secondary schools were nominated based on their significant engagement within their school, parish, and local communities.
Congratulations to the following three (3) Student Trustees elected for the 2024-2025 school year!

Burlington Trustee: Isabel Yeboah
Isabel is currently a grade 10 Honour Roll student at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School. She demonstrates her commitment to excel academically while maintaining a balance with extracurricular activities. Isabel is a 鈥淕lobal Citizen鈥 dedicated to advocating for system change. She actively participates in various Social Justice initiatives and a wide range of other activities such as BSU, Art, Basketball and Track and Field.
鈥淚鈥檓 absolutely thrilled to represent Burlington as a Student Trustee! It鈥檚 not lost on me how huge of an opportunity this is, so I am extremely grateful to my HCDSB peers for giving me a chance to help students and give them a platform to share their voices. I want to show that student’s voice matters and our opinions are so valuable because, at the end of the day, this is our education. I am super excited to come up with some great ideas with my amazing fellow Trustees that will bring out the best in our school board! I鈥檓 ready to work hard and I know that we will do some fantastic things in the future!鈥

North Halton Trustee: Sophia Philbert
Sophia is currently a Grade 11 Honour Roll student at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School. She demonstrates a high level of commitment to her coursework and the ability to manage the many extracurricular tasks she is involved with including: HCDSB Student Senator, STFX DECA member, Volleyball Team member, STFX BSU member. Sophia has enthusiastically embraced this work both in the school and larger community.
鈥淚 am honoured to have the opportunity to represent students across the HCDSB. As students our voices are powerful vehicles of change and I am super excited to use such a privileged position to bring both meaningful changes and student input to the board, alongside my amazing co-trustees.鈥

Oakville Trustee: Lauren McGuire
Lauren is currently a Grade 11 Honour Roll student at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School. Lauren serves as Student Senator Co-Lead, contributes to the HCDSB Board-Wide Equity Group and the EQAO Student Advisory, a provincial level committee. This past year Lauren has been a member of the Student Trustee Association. Additionally, she has been a member of Best Buddies, The Debate Team, and the REACH Trivia Team Junior Captain. Lauren鈥檚 dedication to the school and the HCDSB community is evident through her performance as Student Trustee representing Oakville for the 2023-2024 school year.
