Beginning in September 2024, the HCDSB’s will offer a Grade 9 STEAM Program in Burlington.
STEAM education is an approach to learning that interconnects multiple subject areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics to guide student inquiry, collaboration, and design process and critical thinking.
“Our Grade 9 STEAM Program instruction will be rooted in interdisciplinary project-based learning, focused on solutions to real world problems. Our trained educators will deliver an inquiry-based, hands-on, and collaborative program,” said, Norman Roberts, school principal at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in Burlington.
“Our innovative approach will guide our students to develop transferable skills applicable to all post-secondary pathways they choose in the future,” he added.

Grade 8 Information Session
Parents and students of Grade 8 students who are interested in learning more about Notre Dame’s family of schools STEAM Program and the application process are encouraged to attend the in-person session offered at the school on November 1st.

Although STEAM will be offered only to Grade 9 students next school year, plans are currently in place to offer the STEAM interdisciplinary program in other secondary grades in the future.
