The third week in October is designated Local Government Week by the Provincial Government. This year, it falls on October 16-20, 2023.
Local Government Week was established to increase youth and public awareness about the role local government plays in our communities. This week also serves as a wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the distinct and valuable service provided by locally elected Catholic School Trustees and Boards.
“School Board Trustees are the longest serving form of elected officials in Ontario,” says Marvin Duarte, Chair of the ѿƵ.
“As Catholic school Trustees, we are entrusted with the stewardship of the mission of Catholic education. We work alongside staff, families and parishes to ensure we are realizing our vision of Christ-centred Catholic schools that are meeting the needs of all students. This is a humbling responsibility, and one that each of my colleagues takes very seriously.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I extend my gratitude to our local elected officials across Halton and to our school Trustee colleagues across the province for our ongoing collaboration.”
