The ÄÛÑ¿ÊÓÆµ (HCDSB) invites local associations and community members at large, to apply for membership to its Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).

In accordance with , each school board in Ontario must establish a Special Education Advisory Committee with a mandate to provide advice and make recommendations to the Board on anything that impacts the establishment, development, and delivery of special education programs and services.

A new SEAC is formed every four years, after the election of the Board of Trustees. The school board appoints SEAC members, and they serve for the term of office of board members and until a new board is organized. 

Quick Facts:

  • The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) must meet at least 10 times during each school year. The HCDSB SEAC typically meets on the last Monday of each month of the school year (September – June).
  • The HCDSB SEAC consists of:
    • up to 12  or affiliated associations/organizations. Local associations should nominate an alternate representative. Alternates can attend and participate in SEAC meetings if the local association member cannot be present;
    • up to 2 additional members at large who are not representatives of a local association, trustees of the Board, or members of another Board committee;
    •  two school board trustees, and alternates.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 11, 2022 at 4:00 PM. Those interested in applying must be:

  • A Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older;
  • A resident within the jurisdiction of the HCDSB;
  • And a registered Catholic school supporter.


Local associations interested in applying are asked to submit a letter of interest, and members at large are asked to submit an application (résumé) with a letter indicating their suitability for the position through email SEACapplications@hcdsb.org to the attention of:
